Thriving in 2025: It’s Time to Design Your Life

Let's face it, the old "work-life balance" model is as outdated as dial-up internet. If you're working from anywhere, why not live from anywhere?  Too many remote workers are still stuck in a rut, letting work dictate their lifestyle. It's time to flip the script and design a life you love, with work that fits seamlessly into it.

Your Best Life Blueprint

Forget those tired New Year's resolutions. Instead, visualize your ideal life in 2025. What gets you out of bed in the morning (and no, we don't mean just coffee)? Where are you? Who's with you? What kind of life lights your soul on fire?

Action Steps

  • Get Real: What truly matters to you? Don't be afraid to think big!

  • Visualize: Literally, sit in a cozy spot and imagine in detail, your ideal day.

  • Break it Down: Outline your ideal day into actionable, bite-sized steps.

  • Stay Flexible: Your desires will evolve - just like you.

Remember, this isn't about fitting your life into work. It's about designing your life first and fitting in work that supports it.

So, what are you waiting for? Own it! Start designing your dream life today. Your future self will thank you!

P.S. Ready to ditch the 9-to-5 grind and embrace a life of freedom and flexibility? We’re here to help you make 2025 your best year yet!

LAST WEEK’S POLL RESULTS

What Flexibility Frontier Did You Miss in 2024?

What epic life adventure slipped through your fingers this year, when you totally had the remote work superpowers to make it happen?

“One thing I love about remote work (but I haven’t done enough of) is being able to do life things in times when in-person workers can’t: busy grocery store hours, packed gym, heavy traffic— no thank you! It’s great to mix those things into my day and flex my working hours a bit to make up that time”

Jessica – Thrive Remotely subscriber

“All of the above! In 2024 I spent (and still spend) too much time at home, working alone, without a chance of scenery. It's convenient and it "just works" to stay in my remote bubble but I know I am shorting myself. I'd like to work on this (and all of the above voting options) in 2025.”

THRIVING TRIBE CHRONICLES

The moment I realized I could start Thriving Remotely

Travis Provin recently moved to the Asheville North Carolina area to enjoy all of the beauty, nature, and culture it has to offer. He spends his free time mountain biking, gardening, and cooking while also Thriving Remotely as a project manager for a large data and tech company.

“It’s time to stop working in the office…at home”.

It was after I read those words that my entire mindset shifted. It hit me like a ton of bricks! Before reading those words I saw work two ways; “working from home” and “working remotely”.

Like many people I was forced into remote work when the COVID pandemic hit in March 2020. I didn’t give it a second thought and just kept “working from home”. I kept all of my office habits even when they made no sense. Sure I had heard about all of the benefits of “working remotely” like ditching arbitrary start times, flexing work around life (and all the possibilities that opens up), and leaving the desk behind to work anywhere in the world.

But if I knew all of the above then why was I still working like I was in an office? Why was I signing on at an arbitrary time every day? Why didn’t I give myself permission to take mental and physical breaks? And why had I been dismissing every social, recreational, or life event that was between the hours of 8-5 Monday through Friday? The reason? I told myself that working remotely didn’t apply to me (even though it clearly did!).

The good news? I’m leaving this “not for me” mentality behind in 2024 and making 2025 the year I begin Thriving Remotely! It’s time to stop bending life around a traditional work schedule. We’re living in a time where deadlines and work accomplishments matter more than old cubicle habits and arbitrary start times.

It’s time to realize that when you give yourself permission to enjoy life while you work you actually improve your quality of life and your quality of work!
