Your Workspace Might Be Working Against You 🪴

Hello, fellow desk dwellers,

When was the last time you gave your workspace a performance review?

Comfy chair? Check. Good lighting? Check. Coffee dangerously close to your keyboard? Obviously.

But what if your perfectly cozy setup is secretly sabotaging your focus?

Turns out, your workspace isn't just where you work. It's either helping you thrive or quietly getting in your way.

This week, we're taking a fresh look at what stays, what goes, and what might be draining your energy without you noticing.

Best part? No expensive office makeover required.

SOMATIC SOVEREIGNTY

Your Workspace Doesn’t Need to Look Productive. It Needs to Work for You.

by Bry Gossett

I've worked from home since 2004. That's 22 years of running businesses, coaching entrepreneurs, homeschooling four children, and now leading sales for a technology company. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that the perfect workspace doesn't exist.

At least not in the way Instagram would have us believe.

It's beautiful. But is it functional?

Here’s what I know: A workspace should support how your brain works, not how someone else’s workspace looks.

Your Home Office Might Be Making You Dumber

by Shellie Sullivan

I'm lucky enough to have a dedicated home office, and I compulsively, completely rearrange it about every two or three months. It's amazing how many configurations I can come up with in a 16 by 16 room with one window.

I'm always chasing something. A fresh perspective. Better light. A better camera view for meetings. More space to work out.

But in my quest to be more productive, I want to know which changes actually help. Am I making the space work better, or just making it different?

LAST WEEK’S POLL RESULTS

Is your workspace built for focus, or just for comfort?

SOMATIC SOVEREIGNTY

The Workspace Audit

Most home office advice is decorating dressed up as productivity advice. It optimizes for how a space feels the moment you sit down, which is exactly the wrong moment to optimize for. Real work needs a space that makes it easy to start and harder to wander off.

This audit checks the setup you actually have, not the one in your head. Ten questions, three answers each, twenty points total. Answer for an ordinary Tuesday at 3 p.m., not your best day.
