Personal productivity looks different when you're working remotely, raising two young kids, and helping scale a fast-growing company.
It's not about time management. It's not about doing more in less time.
It's about creating a system that supports your whole life.
Foundation first
For me, productivity starts before I open my laptop.
Computer set up. Both kids in school. Workout done. Real food eaten.
Those aren't optional add-ons. They're the foundation.
Without them? My focus slips. My patience shortens. My decisions suffer.
Self-care isn't separate from productivity. It's the entry point.
When routine becomes your anchor
Working remotely blurs every line between home and work. Add young children and the transitions are constant.
School drop-offs. Sick days. Early pickups. The mental load of running a household while leading a team.
Rigid productivity rules don't work here.
What does work: understanding your own system. What your body, mind, and schedule need to show up fully.
That's where routine comes in. Not perfect or unbreakable, but flexible enough to create rhythm and predictability.
Movement in the morning helps me think clearly. Eating before meetings keeps my energy steady. Having a defined start point signals to my brain it's time to focus.
These routines anchor days that would otherwise feel fragmented.
Growth changes everything
My role may have the same title, but the work evolves as the company grows.
When I joined Grüns, we were 30 people. Now we're 130.
That growth changes everything. Processes. Communication. Expectations. The scope of leadership required.
One of the biggest productivity lessons? Doing more myself is rarely the answer.
Resource intentionally
As we scaled, I stepped back and reassessed where my time and energy were best spent.
I hired a production coordinator I'd worked with before. Someone I trusted. Someone who could bring structure and clarity to a growing creative operation.
That single decision freed up mental space. It let me focus on strategy, team development, and creative vision.
Resourcing isn't just hiring. It's building systems and empowering people.
I work closely with my team to grow our creative output. Not by micromanaging, but by creating clear priorities, improving workflows, and making sure the right people work on the right things.
Productivity at this stage isn't about output alone. It's about sustainability.
Vision over urgency
When everything feels urgent, it's easy to get pulled into reactive work.
Routine and self-care make it possible to zoom out. To stay aligned with what matters most. To make thoughtful decisions instead of rushed ones.
That's especially important when you're leading others while managing personal responsibilities.
The real productivity formula
Personal productivity isn't one-size-fits-all. It's deeply individual and constantly evolving.
For me, it's about honoring my needs. Protecting my energy. Building supportive routines. Resourcing wisely as the company grows.
When those pieces are in place, productivity follows.
Not as burnout, but as meaningful, focused work that fits into a full life.
